American Council of Engineering Companies of Minnesota

ACEC Minnesota represents consulting engineering firms across the state and strengthens the engineering industry through advocacy, business resources, leadership development, and operational excellence.

We are one of 51 state and regional councils affiliated with the American Council of Engineering Companies in Washington, DC. Nationally, ACEC represents more than 600,000 engineers, architects, land surveyors, and related specialists responsible for over $100 billion in private and public works annually.

Who We Represent

ACEC Minnesota’s member firms design the infrastructure systems that support daily life and long-term economic growth. Our members work across transportation, water resources, environmental systems, energy, site development, structural engineering, public works, and emerging technology sectors.

These firms partner with federal, state, and local agencies, as well as private clients, to deliver projects that must meet strict technical, safety, and financial standards. Consulting engineering is a regulated profession grounded in licensure, accountability, and the protection of public welfare.

What We Do

ACEC Minnesota focuses on four primary domains of work:

Advocacy

We engage legislators, state agencies, and regulators to promote procurement policies, infrastructure investment, licensure protection, and delivery models that strengthen Minnesota’s engineering capacity. We represent the business interests of consulting engineering firms while reinforcing professional standards and quality-based selection.

Business Resources

We provide programming, industry intelligence, coordination, and peer engagement opportunities that help firms navigate shared challenges. Our events and committees create structured forums for technical and leadership exchange.

Leadership Development

We cultivate the next generation of industry leaders through structured programs, mentorship, policy engagement, and committee service. Strong firms require strong leaders, and leadership development is not incidental to professional practice.

Operational Discipline

We maintain governance and systems that ensure organizational stability and long-term sustainability. Member value depends on institutional competence.

Why It Matters

Engineering firms operate in a complex environment shaped by public funding cycles, demographic change, regulatory reform, and workforce constraints. ACEC Minnesota exists to align industry voice and professional standards so that infrastructure delivery remains effective and accountable.

When consulting engineering firms are strong, Minnesota’s infrastructure systems are stronger.
