Tom Roche Lifetime Achievement Award

The Tom Roche Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes an individual for their long-term commitment to the consulting engineering profession and to the community. Tom Roche was instrumental in establishing ACEC/MN. Not only was he a primary force behind the formation of ACEC, he was also instrumental in establishing chapters in other states. His passion for engineering was unparalleled, and his passion for ACEC was a close second, which is why we continue to bestow this career achievement award in his name.

Dave Montebello, former President & CEO of SRF Consulting Group was honored with this year’s Tom Roche Lifetime Achievement Award. This award is presented to an individual who has contributed significantly during their career to the engineering profession, ACEC/MN, and the greater community.

With nearly 40 years of experience developing transportation improvements at the local and state levels, Dave has a broad background in traffic, transportation planning, preliminary design, public involvement, and environmental documentation. He is highly adept at coordinating complex, multi-agency projects with a high level of public interest and is well respected for his ability to develop public and agency involvement processes that build support and acceptance. Dave has also been a strong mentor across the industry advising and encouraging young professionals to those that want to start their own business, specifically those operating disadvantaged business enterprises. He was also a strong supporter of ACEC Minnesota, TRB, AASHTO and MAASTO , as well as supporting numerous charitable causes including sponsoring several mission trips to other countries to help people in need along with donations for the following charities: Missions, Inc. (Local battered women’s shelter), Evergreen Youth & Family Services - Bemidji (serving youth in crisis), CCRI - Moorhead (operates many group homes for the disabled), Outfront Minnesota (LGBTQ services), the Animal Humane Society and Secondhand Hounds.
