Creating a Culture of Energy Efficiency – “How to Talk the Talk and Walk the Walk”

Member cost: $25.00

Nonmember cost: $50.00

Energy-efficient design has become the expectation from the majority of clients on every project.  But when asked by a client, “what does your firm do to be more energy efficient?” most engineering companies have no answer.

Rising utility costs, aging facilities and competing demands for limited resources require building owners to rethink energy use.   Engineering companies with the client attitude of “do what we say, not what we do” may find themselves at a marketing disadvantage when trying to maintain or grow the client base.

Energy consumption can be controlled in two ways: by acquiring new, more efficient systems and technology, or by changing the behavior of the people in the building.  As capital projects become harder to implement due to lack of funding or are impractical due to Landlord/Tenant relationships, the real opportunity is to motivate everyone within an organization to maximize building efficiency through simple daily choices and action.

This presentation will focus on the steps an ACEC/MN member organization can take to create a sustainable, easy-to-follow energy management plan for use within their own organization.
